I read in a magazine "...The M-16 and its civilian semi-auto AR-15 cousin..." Does that mean that the M16 is full auto? I never thought it was, but you never know...

Thanks!!

Full-Auto Weapons have been not allowed here for awhile now (Forever). The originals from Veitnam had like 3 settings on them 1-bullet 2-bullet 3 bullets for full auto, and semi. A friend along time ago had a special permit to collect these, but I am almost postive they all had to be turned in. Probited/Restricted not 100% on this. Wrongway would be the guy who would know the best I'd think...

Yes M16s are full auto. Actually the Veit Nam version had full and semi. The burst settings came later.
If you owned registered full autos before the crazy laws you can still have them... Class 2 licence I think???

The M16, C7, and AR platform are all brothers. Parts are interchangeable, althougfh the manufacturers differ. The AR's available tot he civillian market are actually clones of the M16 (without the full auto sear)

The main difference between the C7 (canadian) M16 (US) and AR15 (Civillian) are the sears. Full auto, three round burst, and semi-only.

The C7 also has a heavier barrel than the M16 and AR-15 and a flat top receiver.

Depends on the gun. We generally use an HBAR, but the US tend to use an M4 step cut profile barrrel. That raises another side note, the US rifles are now referred to as the M4, also a flat-top. Still an M16 varient, but more "in the times"
