If you like the easiest solution would to direct replacement with 512 seal,
since they're almost a perfect match with the mounting and all.
Alot less hassle but quality is not that good.

I will try the diana24 seal. My gun shop will have to order one for me though. By the way what is the diana seal made of? My RM422 seal is made of white nylon. And also my RM422 piston is different than yours. It already has the flat head at the top there is nothing to cut off. The reason I got my RM422 so powerful before to about 800fps is because I think that crosman sent me the only RM parts they had which weren't the RM422 parts. Because the new spring they sent me is way stronger and the coils are spaced out more .It is also "11.5".

Could the RM422 also benefit from a shorter piston? So more volume can fit inside of the tube?

The one that I have from JM, they're apex seal $7.95 USD each.

Well, if you look at the original RM422 piston and any shorter is not going
to make any different but perhaps if it's too short of a piston's cylinder
it would become unstable, unless if the stem of the piston is shorter then
it would gives more volume but then the gun would not cock since the
travel of the cocking arm be changed as well. The last problem is using
a longer spring with more coil and the thickness of the coil, too big would
cause the gun not to cock because not enough space behind the piston.

The longer spring would give you the feeling of big recoil and big impact
of the seal slamming the cylinder wall and thinking that it has a high power.
The spring is being compress over its capacity and not enough room to
travel, it gets weak very fast. I've done alot of experiment with that.
Currently I have over 35 springs from JM for all kinds of my guns and seals
to last over a century.

This is the problem, why rm422 is hard to believe does 800 fps.
If you would compare it with D34 .22 does 750 fps. it has alot longer
cylinder tube than rm422 with alot bigger diameter cylinder tube than rm422.
D34 has enough room for the spring to compress without being squash like
it would have if rm422 with a longer spring.
If you take a look at rm622 and rm822, they also have a bigger receiver
cylinders than rm422, not just a longer spring.

Bottom line is the only way rm422 to get hi-vel. is by dieseling that would
damage the seal in no time, and the longer spring would loose power from
overly compress, either way the hi power would die in about 50 - 100 shots. This fact is from experiment.

So then I guess putting the beeman R9 spring into it would weaken it quick because it would be compressed too much right? So I guess then the RM422 is really only a gun that can be brought up to about 600-650fps max. So I thought it was going at 800fps because of the stronger spring and the loud bang it was making when it was probably only doing something like 600. Well I thank you for all your help and if there is any other information please share. Thanks again. I am going to my gun shop today to order a diana piston seal.
