The spring on a B-4 sits on a flat surface in the bottom of the piston. To allow the spring to freely twist or rotate during the cycle I made this round nose bearing from 660 bearing bronze.

Thats an excellent Idea George that will prevent the torqueing of the spring while it expands from being transferred to the piston and the rest of the gun . It also adds some spaceing and added mass to the piston .

I wonder if a large Round Headed Bolt would do the same thing ? That is the best idea so far though, lathing it out like that.

A round headed bolt should be ok I would think. It couldn't be an worse than the steel on steel as it comes from the factory. If it is greased it shouldn't gaul.
