Hey guys, Hopefully going to do the course this weekend and get things cleared up in the next six weeks or so, now...what i would love to know is what would be an excellent all around rifle? big Enough to take down a Cyotte, but small enough to get a squirl.

What do you fella's say?

Thanks.

DannyDoo.

Sounds nice, what kinds of actions does it come in? Semi auto? Bolt action? Lever Action? Single shot bolt action?

Danny.

Danny.

I would have to say "all of the above" and then some...
The .223 is a good economic overall round, capable of good target shooting and small game hunting... You don't wanna hunt deer or bear with it though...

yeah, i'd probably get a 30-06 or a 308. for that.

Those old WW2 Springfeild 308.'s (if they are legit) would be kinda cool to use for a Deer.

A bear or moose i'd probably want a larger Caliber....any suggestions for a Bear or Moose Hunting Rifle?

For bear or moose, I'd say .300 to .338

I think your friend would get the best answer from this website: www.rimfirecentral.com

That website helped me choose my first .22 rifle: the CZ 452 American in .22 lr (excellent overall rifle).

For moose? .308 will do the job nicely. .303 British is excellent.

I think you need two rifles... a 22RF and a .223 or .22/250. I wouldn't suggest a 22RF for coyotes. The 22RF would be fine for the edible squirrels. Maybe you could find one of those NEF rifles with two barrels.

Cheers,
Todd

Perhaps if you're on a budget, get a 22/410, top barrel .22 and bottom
barrel is 410 shotgun. You can use 410 slug about 1/2 ounce at
1800 - 1900 fps, you're good to go .....
Sometime you can find a good old Savage 22/410 at the gun's show,
very good gun, accurate and reasonable price.

if you wanted something for hunting anything reasonably well...a shot gun can fire slugs or shot

If I was back into Hunting I would buy a .223cal 5.6mm. I have found those the best all around gun to use for this. Check out the Rugers ?

yeah after blowing my money on the course its gonna be a couple of weeks before i can get my first rifle.

So i would like somthing for getting squirls, ground hogs, Raccons, Cyotte's...things like that.

My neighbor is always having a huge problem with Ground hogs, im sure he'd be happy if i droped a couple.
