Check out my latest new toy. I just bought it today at Al Simmons in Hamilton. I've already put 200 rounds through it (I bought 1000 rounds).

It's a stainless Ruger Mini-14 with a synthetic stock. It's basically a mini version of the M14 (I have one of those too) that chambered for both the .223 Remington and the 5.56mm NATO round. When I had it on the range, I found it to be accurate and consistant. I haven't scoped it yet, but it did come with Ruger scope rings. I'm going to grab a scope for it this week.

Hmmm, for some strange reason I can't edit posts any more so I couldn't fix the photo link. Here it is:

Very nice! Congratulations! I've always liked the look of silver and black together on a gun! Bring it to the next RVD round up and we'll have a .223 shoot off?! AR15 vs. Mini14?! 8)

And when you two are done, I'll give it a go with my M1 carbine vs the Mini 14.

Good looking gun - I hope that they have made some improvements on them over the years. I had a Mini 14 about 20 or so years ago - wouldn't group worth a darn, even at 50 yds - the groups were laughable, so it got the nick-name the "Mini Ha Ha".

I've since become a big fan of the USGI M1 carbine.

I think they have improved it. I had it at Range Burlington and it was grouping very nicely with the iron sights. I'm going to scope it this week and I suspect it'll improve even more.

Thanks. It's definitely a fun rifle to shoot. They actually do have a blued model with wood furniture. I just liked the look of the stainless one.
