I had a coffee at GMK Armoury this afternoon... and I brought my camera.

In the mid-90s, I owned a pair of S&W 686 revolvers (6" and snubby). These two big bore cannons make the 686 look tiny.

Cheers,
Todd

I had the opportunity to shoot a .500 S&W Magnum at the local gun range. After five shots, the lower half of my hand was numb/tingly, as was the lower part of my wrist. That sucker has some kick to it !!!! My son took three shots, opened the cylinder, and handed the gun back to the owner. His hand had gone numb, and he was afraid of losing control of the gun, or dropping it.
The ammo for the .500 S&W isn't cheap either - IIRC, about $60 or $70 for a box of 20 !!!!
I shoot for enjoyment and relaxation - not to try and satisfy some sort of repressed masochistic tendencies - LOL !!!!

I would likely shoot one round from the .500S&W if I had the opportunity. That would be enough :)

A buddy of mine tried the .500 in the picture. He enjoys a .44 mag but the .500 opened his eyes. The first shot had him step back. Then he braced himself and let go with the other 4 shots. He smiled. Power nut!

The .460 might soon be sold to a prospector. A few guys have been looking and thinking. The .500 is very barrel heavy. I even found it heavy with two hands...lol.

Cheers,
Todd

You have nooooo idea.........
Do you remember what the 44 Mag felt like at the fun shoot? That .500 S&W kicks at least three or more times as hard. Yep - I managed to keep all 5 shots on the paper at 25 yards, but somehow, I felt like the target had gotten off easy...... .

Supr, oh yes i remember 8) and to be honest with you if you noticed me shooting it, It was nothing for me with those factory loads, i expected it to be worse, Magnumair's SuperBlackhawk .44 with the factory loads was more harsh to shoot.
I got the chance to squeeze off a round from a .416 Weatherby Magnum the other day at the range and that is what I call recoil You figure that cartridge is pushing a 350 grain bullet at 2600fps or so with roughly 75 lbs recoil energy being shot from a 10lb rifle  .. guess where the rest of that energy goes lol

The guy was telling me how expensive it is to shoot that thing, I think he said it was $115 or $120 for a box of 20 cartridges wholesale.. LOL not something you want to shoot for the afternoon.. You wouldn't have a shoulder or a wallet left .
