Just wondering, are there many people shoot FT in Canada? and are there any HFT (Hunter Field Target) clubs in Canada?

There are not too many, about the same amount as in Northern Ireland, in fact. There are four of us on this forum that are on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Airgun Field Target Association. Myself, Canshooter, CJN, and Mac. Threre is a new web site being designed right now, the shooting rules have been re-written to bring Canada in close alignment with the World FT rules and those in common use around the globe, but keeping our own particular flavour to them. That was a two month long challenge that produced a very easy to understand set of rules which encompass FT, Limited FT, and Hunter. We call it Limited as no hold improvements for the shooter are allowed. We are now set to joing the WFTA and will be doing so in the next nonth or so. Hopefully, three shooters will be attending the Worlds next year in Ireland and will do our country proud.

We are hoping that this forum, and others that specialize in FT, will attract shooters from out of the back fields and corners of the country, and bring them into an orgainization that can help them get setup and running. At some time, it might require some travelling across the country to be done, but hey, someone has to do it. Starting a club from scratch is really tough and requires a great deal of support from those in the area. It also needs a dedicated core group to keep the word out there and to look for more to join in.

Canshooter and I took a drive out to a club about 50 km from here as they had advertised on the web that they were getting an air gun section running and were looking for shooters. This might have been too close to Christmas, and they were not there when we arrived, but we will try again in the new year. We have not taken to winter FT yet, but we do give it a go once a year, and two weeks ago was a prefect snow day. None falling, but lots on the ground and not too much wind. Hope this helped.

In the previous post, please note the addition of CJN as an active member of this forum and is also on the Board of Governors of CAFTA. My appologies for that complete oversight.

You can use one of my guns if you don't have your own with you!

Hope you see you!

Do you ever get up to the Isle of Skye? My Dad's side is from there.

Thank you so much for your kind offer, I hope to have a couple of visits in 2008 (if I have the spare cash).

I met 2 of the guys from here when I was over in September, it was great to put a friendly face to the names, It would be great to meet a few more. Might have to get those t-shirts made up before my next visit, so we know who to look out for :D

I've not been to Skye... yet... one day I will get over there, think one of my cousins lives there.

Next time I'm over I will see if I can find you a wee bottle, although, it's probably cheaper over there than here
