As far as I know, there are only two clubs in Canada that shoot field target matches. The original clug is the Waterloo FT Club shooting at the Elmira RD & Gun Club just north of Waterloo, Ontario. The second club is the Port Colborne FT Club located at the south end of the Welland canal in the Niagara Peninsula, also in Ontario.

A friend and I had been competing for years only at Waterloo and a few years back started with a couple of matches and it has grown to a full interlocking schedule with the Waterloo club. The venues are about 2 hours apart.

It takes someone willing to set up some kind of course, even if it is just in a field with a couple shooters using paper targets, spinners and maybe a Gamo FT or two. It can be a very fun afternoon or whole day.

The attendance at some of our matches in Port still concerns me, but since my buddy and I will shoot even if there is the two of us, I don't let it bother me. We do have about six guys, some driving and hour and a half to get here, that can be counted on to be there, provide targets to set up a couple of lanes or help in any way they can to set up and disassemble the course. We then head to Tim Horton's for supper and a long gab session. It is just a great way to spend a Saturday.

I hope you can find a couple of interested shooters and get something started. If you need any advice, I think this forum is going to be a very valuable resource for the sport of FT.

Good luck.

Tim

Looks like you have enough support for a club of 2! As Mac said he would shoot even if there were only 2 shooters. ( I am one of the 5 or 6 guys that regularly drive 1.5 hours to get to the port matches). I hate to miss a competition. There are several of us that would like to continue year round with at least one competition every month of the year.
