Some comments on the newer version compared to those we got a couple years ago:

This is the first one I've bought for well more than a year. The current ones are somewhat different looking in finish. Lots more machining marks (my older breeches had ~zero), though still pretty good, and noticeably blacker bluing as opposed to the previous which more closely matched the lighter bluing of their action tubes etc. typical of that time. The only other physical difference is the dovetail is slotted for (I presume) the LPA rear sight. The bolt handle is also black, with some machining marks, and is a teensy bit differently machined on the handle.

Still the best metalwork Crosman has done since at least the 70's, but I detect a declining standard of machining that makes no functional difference. I would not be surprised if the source has changed too. A worthwhile add-on for supporting longer barrels and most types of sighting systems other than the stock one. Or even if you're just allergic to plastic.
