Hi just wondering what would be the best type of pellet for HFT.

I will be using a QB79 .22 close to 500fps

Any advise would be great. :D :D :D

Standard answer. The most accurate one. It doesn't matter what it is, but it must be accurate out of your rifle, or you will have a difficult time knocking the targets over. I didn't say hitting them, they are much larger than a tin can, but the true target is the hole in the plate and the paddle behind it. If a wadcutter is really great at 45 to 55 yards, use it. If H&N Field Target Trophy is the most accurate, use it. Test your rifle at a good long range, not just 10 to 15 yards. Hope this helps.

I had this same question a few months ago. Like Keyrigger stated, it really comes down to what shoots well in your particular rifle.
The biggest issue you will have with finding information is that you're using .22, and basically all FT shooters use .177.
Try a few different brands of domed pellets as they seem to do better at longer ranges (in general).

What they said, but I would add, try a few pellets, and see what you like, then get out with some paper targets and see where the shots are going at the different distances. Once tou know the way your gun is shooting right through the ranges you should do ok.
