I had a similar setup here... The only thing that I added was a piece of scrap on an angle at the back of the bbq to deflect the pellets down into the bottom and prevent comebackers.

It worked pretty well all winter and into the spring (shooting out my kitchen window) untill a storm messed it up. I haven't reset it up as there is too much walk by traffic on my street. Corner lots really suck when the weather gets nicer.
