Hi,
I noticed that the CR steel breach doesn't have a spot for the rear site like the plastic one does, In the near future I plan to buy it but I don't really have any need for a scope at the moment since currently i'm only doing short range shooting.

I do have one red dot site that came with my Cr1008 but I was wondering if there is any way to use the original rear site on the steel breach? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to getting a decent red dot sight so I could leave the other one on my 1008, that doesn't cost to much money (ie less than $40 would be preferable)?

Thanks,

Iain

There is no way you can use the original rear sight unless you buy a longer screw.

The tasco red dot scopes are your best bet and lebaron has them for $37.94 on special:

Thanks, that red dot sight would do the trick and a longer screw wouldn't be to hard to come by until i get the cash

Take the original rear sight which is made of plastic and grind/sand/file the bottom until it fits nice and flush....it will take 10-15 minutes to do it.

Just grind the top of the breech and the sight will fit.

I have a Copperhead red dot on my 2289G and it works perfect, and it was well under 40 bucks for sure ...

The rear of the CR metal breech can be milled to accept the stock rear sight. Keeps it at the right height for the stock front sight.

Roy at MountainAir does this all the time.

I'm surprised that someone like metalmuncher doesn't provide this service. Quick fix for someone with a mill.

Yes, exactly...for someone with a mill. Not recommended for a DIYer with limited hand tools.

Oh yes I can do it for anyone willing to pay the shipping both ways and wait on the mail. It is a ten minute job.

I guess I'm a capitalist but you should be charging a few bucks for this service!!!! Just think of wear & tear on the machine and tools, your time, plus the original cost of the equipment.

Don't do yourself a disservice and devaluate your abilities. Most folks are than happy and very willing to pay for good work.

Just my 2 cents....
