I have a diana model 16 and i had it apart just a few days ago to inspect it and the leather piston seal has a huge crack in it almost going all the way around. Or in other works my piston seal is almost broken in 2 halves is there a way to fix it or am I snookered? I have tried looking for a new seal but with no luck. Probably because the rifle is so old.

If you can't find the right seal and want to send me the gun I can make a metal piston with and "O" ring seal for it.

Hi RM 422 ,
You can make a new piston seal for it from a piece of leather
conditioned with neats foot oil and silicone oil , and cut it with an exacto knife to the right size .Another option would be to measure the piston diameter and if its a standard 1 inch , then it can be converted to synthetic useing an adapter made by Ratite ..www.airgunsmith.com
and use an apex seal from JM or a crosman quest seal .

Regards ,
Frank

thanks for your help but it's way smaller than one inch. This Diana model 16 is an old break barrel from the 1930's that only does 300fps max. And can either shoot pellets or darts. Maybe I will try making a new seal myself. Where would I get the leather?

Or if you want to be creative, go shoot a cow, tan the hide, and you're set!!!
