"Join me on Earth hour (March 26th at 8:30pm) by TURNING ON every power consuming appliance, light, television and accessory in your house. Electric power creates hundreds of thousands of jobs in this country. It powers our hospitals, homes and places of work. Earth hour is a gimmick created by people that think outrageously expensive Solar & Wind power have any effect on power production in Canada, which are effectively going to rob you of your money by increased hydro rates.

Just to note:
Currently the Ontario government pays roughly $0.80/kW - $0.56/kW for MicroFIT solar production (all the individual solar panels you see in farmers’ fields). The government collects roughly $0.05/kW from electricity production provincially....

Example: It costs a company $80.00 to make a product. They then sell it for $5.00....PROFIT: -$75.00. This is what the Ontario government is doing.

-The enormous solar farm in Sarnia covers 950 acres of land and only produces 80 megawatts, without a single tree or plant in sight.

-Lambton Generating station, a clean coal burning facility (one of the cleanest in North America) can produce 2000 megawatts AND has hundreds of acres of environmentally monitored land around it full of trees, natural growth and wildlife. This facility hires hundreds of people and creates thousands of jobs for people around the province to support it with parts, products, expertise and service.
(It is slated to be shut down by the Ontario government 2014)

Let’s support the employees that help create, deliver and administer this gift known as electricity reliably, consistently and affordability

Mike Yankovitch"
