The Alecto with the longer barrel is my .22 cal while the shorter barrel is the .177 with the MRS sight. Both shoot unbeleivable and have been detuned to shoot around 495ish. The .22 pistol is very very quiet now, which my wife appreciates when i use my indoor range. The .177 isn't as quiet as I wanted but it need to fit my case!

JezX muzzle brakes are really well made. You can't go wrong with one of those, I bought two and they were both going on threaded barrels (IZH-60 and AT-44) and they screwed on perfectly.

You can’t buy a single airgun for everything. Golfers use many different clubs, airgunners need more than one gun

Knapper, those Alectos are drool worthy my friend. Keep me in mind if ever you decide to machine some more of those barrels - those are some of the best air guns going!!!

Not trying to hijack your thread, I figure these pictures are pretty relevant since we have the same Walther MRS red dot ;)
Took these the other day. Really enjoying this red dot, helps with aiming with both eyes open - something I wasn't very good at with the iron sights.

I would definitely be interested to see chrony numbers with such a long barrel (PM me if you have them)! My question would be will a barrel that long give you gains or loses, to long can be the same as to short. Eventually you pass the point in which your air pressure drops before the pellet leaves the muzzle, therefore the barrel just starts adding friction slowing down the velocity. With a barrel that long i would imagine you couldn't shot it with only one pump, one pump might not produce enough air pressure to launch the projectile.

Keep me posted with the results, im interested in figuring out the optimum barrel length for the alecto pistol. I know with my 12in .22 barrel i have velocity lose using one pump but gained using 3 pumps. But im not chasing crazy velocity just reducing the "pop" sound for indoor shooting.

With a barrel of that length how does it feel for balance?

If you look closely at the barrel, where it meets the gun, you can see shiny steel. I took the picture after I turned the OD of the factory 24" Crosman barrel down to test fit it before I cut it. I chrony'd it in the high 600's/low 700's before I cut it. I had enough power to launch the pellets with 1 pump, but can't remember the exact numbers, nor can I find the paper I wrote my numbers on.

the magic number i have been using to have barrel shoulder out on the exterior face of the pistol and seat on the rubber oring at the valve, is 7.263". this gives a nice flush fit, but since the alecto is not a machined housing that number could differ from gun to gun by a few thous.

if your only hitting the 600's with a 2ft barrel i would imagine you have past the point in length in which you are maximizing the airs efficiency. if you are planning on shortening it, try removing a few inches at a time as you do some number crushing with the chrony.

The long barrel sure reminds of the pistol the joker used to shot down batman in one of those movies i seen as a child. Just not the telescopic type.lol

The barrel was cut a long time ago. The picture of the muzzle brake on the Alecto is how it looks with the .177 barrel installed.

( IDONTKNOWJACK) Well then on that note, looks good! Did you make that muzzle break? What is the AOL(over all length) of your barrel when finished?

Chewy....thanks for the compliments! It's been along wait, gettiing these pistol to this point. And yes you'll be the first to receive a barrel from me when I get some in stock and machined! And knowing you, you'll be looking for a .177 barrel, much like the one on my .177 barrel. The muzzle breaks are available from JEXZ, so you'd have to contact him if your interested.

Yes, I machined the brake too. OAL is 10".

I'm curious, at the risk of "hi-jacking" this thread, can somebody explain the large adjustable heel on these airgun target pistols?
Is the purpose to better fit the pistol to your hand for the best accuracy?

SURESHOT it's call a palm shelf! It's adjustable up and down and has a bit o angular as well. I helps consistent gripping and I find it always for consistent wrist angle when holding. There's probably more to explain it but that what I get from it.
