I think it's time to give my old [1965] 618 slavia air rifle a little TLC. I am aware that I can't simply order parts like a newer gun but is there anyone here who has done some work on this gun. I will be needing a new leather piston seal and perhaps a rear sight. If someone has experience with repairing this gun I would appreciate some info.

Thanks

Before buying a new leather piston seal do this with your old one.

1. Soak it in air tool oil for 24 hours
2. Take it out of the oil and soak in warm water for 20 minutes
3. then soak it in oil again for another 20 minutes

Slavia piston seals are very tough and I have always had luck reviving them using this method. I have repaired many old slavias so if you have any questions feel free to pm me or ask here.

As far as the sight goes you could probably make your own if you wanted to.

Thanks for the info. I started a post earlier about how to make a leather seal and I think I am going to try to make a new one. However, perhaps you are correct and I should firdt make sure the old one cannot be revived.

Question here! The problem with the rear sight of my old Slavia is simply that the screw to adjust elevation is missing. This screw is very small in diameter and perhaps at most a quarter inch long but it has a very wide and flat head used to "adjust" it. I contacted Slavia years ago and they did not carry the part. Does anyone know if someone carries them now?

Thanks

You could fit a normal screw on there to that has the right thread.

Didn’t want to start a new thread for this. Hope it’s okay to bring up this old post.

I received a 618. I cannot remove the stock screw Infront of the trigger guard that holds it to
The action.

It seems to tighten it more turning the screw driver left or right.
Has anyone ever encountered this?

Edit. Figured it out. Tapped it lightly to break our the old gunk.
