Well Am I DUMB. I was wondering why I was getting a large puff of air each shot, so I took out the bolt, thinking that the seal had ruptured from all the back pressure. Turns out the bolt was from my .177 cal barrel. I replaced it with the .22 cal bolt and went up to 195 fps. I also cropped all the arrows the same and weighed them again. 74 gram,s each. Then I put a 3/16 break line inside the 1/4 inch brake line to use up some air space. Ave fps was 200 and the max was 208.7. That equals 110.43 foot pound,s energy. I also did the same with the Co2 gun and got 127 fps avg. The video below didn't get the chrony clearly, and I didn't have time to run another round. I will later. I sure wish I could play it in slo-mo.

Thanks to Joe as he has given me another project.
I machined a 1377 barrel down so the arrow would slide over it. Cut the arrow to 10 inches and removed the heavy tip and replaced it.Best fps so far is 234. Tried drilling out the barrel to a larger diameter and the fps droped. Joe said this would happen but I had to try. The valve is modded and a heavier hammer spring.Using a hiPac at 2000 psi. Hope to get it shooting over 250 fps.

Reading some posts about using Disco valves and thinking they might work to increase the fps. Switching the tube would make it pal legal.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

I'm pretty sure since it fires an arrow and not a true projectile, it would not be a firearm. But I doubt anyone can get it shooting over 500 fps anyway.

I think it would become a crossbow then!! Gotta have a PAL to buy one of those!

I don't see much use for this thing. It is just a project to see what can be done . Then the parts will move on to the next project. Probably something in 25 caliber.

Crossbows don't require pals. Just you be 18.
If it was a crossbow tho, it would be a prohibited weapon
Aka the dreaded pistol crossbow.

Hard to be a crossbow when there is NO string and NO bow. The arrow is propelled by AIR. Not crossbow-like at all. Also, so far there are no commercial crossbows that shoot even close to 500fps---the Barnett Ghost410 shoots at 410fps (rated at that) and PSE makes a Tack 15 that shoots at speed above 420 but not too much. Nothing our there so far has broken the 500fps barrier. Crossbows are legal and you must be 18. I know of no other restrictions on crossbows. You can hunt with them where allowed and when allowed. Nothing is ever said about the speed of a crossbow affecting its classification. Definitely NO PAL required to purchase or own one.

Like plasticman said. It,s just some experimenting to see what can be done, especially because it,s a 2240. A $60 gun doing what the $2500 FX does, I will never hunt anything but paper and vegetables.

Hunting vegetables huh, you darn vegie killers vegans. Why don't you turn carnivore like the rest of us normal people and stop killing those poor vegies?

Joe, here is a photo of your arrow going over the chrony. Just thought you might be interested. Hope you don't mind me taking liberties with your video.
