I'm new to this mod and tune thing, but I thought the idea was to not take away material and only to use polishing compounds??

I followed the video exactly for mine and it turned out great. once you start doing mods you cant stop until you do them all :P

If you are going to mod a 2240 than the first thing you need to do is invest in a chrony so then you will know for sure.

if you get a 2260 tube for it, you can go over 500 fps with a pal

Steel breach is good. If you put on a longer barrel you may need to lighten the hammer spring to stay under 500.

I was thinking I'd likely change the breech first, where's the cheapest? And I don't have a chronograph to know if it went above 500, is it still prohibited if you don't know the speed?

The last time I cited the "Ignorance is bliss" amendment to an RCMP officer, he just turned away and headed back to his car, muttering something about "...the bad guys always seem to find a loophole." :P

Those are nice and simplistic! I think anyone can understand that and do it!

I'll definitely look into this, thanks guys!!

Haha! I'll remember that! ;)

So, what would be the cheapest and best Chrony?

And while I'm here I might as well ask, is the 2240 good for rat killing? Or really is there a Canadian gun that will work since all are under 500 fps?

The best that most of use is this one.
http://www.airgunsource.com/store/index.php?product=SC-F1CHRONY&c=165
The F1 Chrony

I kill rats with mine, no problem! Problem is getting a good optical setup for night time!

With the steel breech it would be easier to attach optics, are night time ones harder to find?

Well I went to walmart last night and they had the Crosman 2240, and it was on clearance for $47!!

I know this gun has many options for mods, more so than most air guns. But what would be the best mod, the one you'd do first? A longer barrel? A steel breech? What's the best one?
Thanks! :D

I did the same thing this week, I been to walmart quite a few times and never noticed any 2240's.. cause there was none in the display case. Well this week did my usual walk thru and checked the display, not for anything in particular.. just to have a look. Bam the first thing I see is a 2240 on the bottom shelf tucked away! $47 great deal on a must have gun. Once sighted very accurate, my only issue is its low velocity from bad puncture to the co2 cartridges.
