Posting to my own long-dead thread I know - but when looking for information with a web search myself I've often got returns which were years old threads on various forums and which helped me... or frustrated me because they died off [i]just[i] before it looked like I was going to find out what I needed to know. In case that happens to someone else and leads here I'll say what happened with the 30s:

I bought replacement parts (spring, piston seal, breech seal and lubricant) cleaned the insides, installed the new seals, applied the lube and mainspring grease, put the whole thing back together and it's been shooting flawlessly the intervening seven years since I forgot about this thread. It wasn't until a couple of months after my last post that I received the parts and had time to install them and in that time the thread slipped from my mind.

I have an old-style HW-77 and an FWB602 and still love shooting the little HW-30S. I had a scope on it years ago but since the 77 came along I went back to the original open sights. Now I have open sights, match diopter sights and a scope to choose from.
