Will look at making new grip's, white maple may be, it's going to be a light colored wood for sure.

Had a pair of Colt SAA's with pearl grips and consecutive serial numbers. They were a work of art!

It went easier then I expected. I ordered a set of 'pearl grip' from Thailand, look great and fit is very ok, not perfect but ok, they are a bit shorter and the holes for the screw on the right side is not at exact distance, but it does the job. Here are some picture. I must say that for this second 1911 I'm very satisfied. Much easier with a dremel.

There, took me about 30 minutes with the dremel. At a point I was not shure if the sanding would show up true the resine, got lucky can't see a thing true :D yes. Being a bit to short (bottom) doesn't show to much... first picture... 8)

My second 1911 does not that issue also, by the serial number it is way older starts 013, the other starts at 280.

File comment: Polishing (cotton) wheel 1'' I think used at medium to high speed 1 is brand new and the other the same but after the job. not on the picture, a polishing compound work good for polishing, mandatory for a brilliant glow.

File comment: Big 6'' polishing wheel that I bought later, using it with a drill, work well, would work better with a bench grider (higher RPM)
