Hi all,
My name is Miguel, and I write from Spain. I have developed a program which is an electronic target for airguns. I'm looking for people who want to help me test the program.
Only need a PC with windows and an ordinary webcam. The program allows you to print the targets and stores the score, accuracy and groupings of the shots in a database.
The program is designed to shoot indoors, but I think it also can work well outdoors.
I can put you in touch with me through my website www.e-sniper-shooting-practice.com
After entering from the home page, find a link at the bottom of the page to ask you a key to register the program (for free, of course).

Hi all,
I apologize if my presentation seemed a little abrupt , I have not much experience in the forums.
I am a software developer and I'm also fond of shooting , so i developed this program to carry stats of my progress without hand annotation .
I'm thinking of distributing the program as shareware , but is currently only in testing phase.
Yes , the mobile application is similar to mine, but my program is more sophisticated, because it has a database and computes statistics based on shooting parameters such as the type of ammunition, gun model , the distance etc. The data is collected on the fly, as shooting goes.
It is a partially open source application , so other developers can add new features , new models of targets , drivers for other camera types besides the usb webcam.
This also makes it more complicated to manage and configure , of course , the choice depends on the needs of each.

Greetings from Spain

it would be cool if the same type of program could be used to calculate FPS like a chrony, i could see a black and white stripped card facing the webcam, then the program would calculate the speed of the pellet, you would just have to take your shots parallel to your card, a lot people have laptops and cams they could use, but not everybody wants to actually buy a chrony

just a thought :|

This does not work using a webcam, the frame rate is too slow, about 10fps, this is much less than the pellets. I tried it, but the pellet simply does not appear in the image in the majority of trials.

Is there a "quick guide" or tutorial video on how to use the software. I had a quick look at it, then gave up - but I'm old and lazy especially when it comes to software. :?

Yes, there is a pdf help file with the software. In the website you can download either the demo versión (which is a simplified versión of the program, without database support, only for shoot and get the scores, its a good point for start) or the full versión, which is more complicate for install and manage, but with much more options. For this versión, you must contact with me in order to request a free test key to actívate the software.
In my websithe there is a contact link at the bottom of the inner pages.
Regards.

Hi Miguel,

This looks great. And, looks like you are 90% of the way to meeting another popular request - a dry firing practice system. If we added a standard target laser to the pistol/rifle you could track the aim point via the web cam. Assuming we used a pistol that can make a noise when dry fired (like a single or multi-stroke pump or pcp) you could sync the time of shot using the microphone and record the aim point at that time from the webcam/laser position. That would be pretty darn useful. We could even go nuts and record the motion of the aim point for a few seconds before and after the shot, and do an analysis of the motion in the hold and follow-through stages.

Regards,
Jim

Hi, EverPowerful,

thanks, I really thought about this of the laser, but i decided to let it for an hypotetical versión 2.0, it's easy to detect it, as the light is very strong, and we can obtain much data about shooting vices and correct it. The program is partially open source and comes with a software developer kit, so another people can add this feature too.

Thank you very much to all who participated in the tests or contributed ideas. I have finished the testing phase, but the keys that you may have are still valid.

Hi all,

as many people have raised questions about how the program works, I have prepared a couple of videos explaining it.

In this video (on YouTube), I explain the basic operation of the program: http://youtu.be/6iS5Vw-YHWc

In this one (on my website, at the bottom of the page), I explain how to configure the camera: http://www.e-sniper-shooting-practice.c ... rget-frame

regards
