I went through all the years of the gun registry. Being treated by the government as if I was the criminal. Having to show ID or writing my drivers /PAL licence down does not really bother me to much. Store policy and one has a choice if they want to buy or not buy their. It would be good if government thinks I only have pellet guns.

Yeah I remember buying my first 22LR from CT. Calling the CFC, going thru the transfer process. Only to get the gun home to find out it had 2 different mags, it was used and the recoil spring was bent. Went back and had to go thru the process to transfer it back and the new one. I only bought a SKS from them again and they wrote down some stuff in the PC. Whoopie Do, CFC/CFP already knows I have firearms. Most of them are restricted firearms.

I'm not as paranoid as others saying Oh mike from canmore bought my guns.

As bad as these gun registry years may have been - and I'm glad I didn't "live" through them - one could reason that these are actual firearms, the type that burns through powder, and therefore justifiable (to those scared Marys out there).

But when similar hassle is applied to pellet guns, BB guns and for all I know, even airsoft then this makes Canada seem an awful lot like Russia.

Hell, if Equifax can't keep our personal data secure what chance do we have with Can Tire high school dropouts?

Despite the word pellet being used, I do not believe this is intended to encompass airgun shot.

I think you are wrong, Fritz - it certainly does not mean shot-shell "pellets" as shot shells are listed in the "cartridge" sentence - the inclusion of the word "pellet" must mean air rifle pellets. There are no other "pellets".

Under the criminal 'code' you cannot purchase ammunition without a P.A.L., IIRC. The Province of Ontario seems to have written all this up to include air rifle pellets in it's Provincial addition to the

Federal Gun Laws.

See section 3 - mentioning a 12 year old- so, this rather points to the word pellet meaning pellets but might also include BB's- at C.T.

If they intended ammunition to include airgun shot, they would have deliberately included it in the wording rather than "pellet" which could mean shotgun or muzzle loader ammo.

Seriously? They already mentioned shot shells - no need to mention shot shell shot called it pellets.

Are there any stores selling lead shot "back East"?

Shot is not ammunition, as shot (ie": shot shell pellets) must be combined inside a casing, with power and primer and spacing wads. Shot, wads and powder in a ML - which still is not loaded (in BC)

unless it is also primed. In BC, a muzzleloader is not loaded - ie: it does not contain ammunition, until it is also primed with a percussion cap on the nipple, priming in the pan, or primer in a 22 Century muzzleloading gun. If the Government meant shot shell pellets they would likely have said shot gun shot, not pellets.

Pellets to all and sunder, means air gun ammunition.

The store will either demand ID or not - it's that simple, after all, how the store interprets the laws or makes their own rules is what matters to someone purchasing 'ammunition' who either

does not have the requisite identification or does and chooses not to give it to them.

So then BB's are exempt as they are not pellets ?. To most people ammunition would mean a powder burning cartridge and not lead pellets.

If you have a "Burning Desire" to make a point, ask to speak to the Manager.
That would not get you anywhere but at least it would be brought up at the next store meeting.
At Le Baron, was asked for Name and Telephone No. to purchase Pellets.
Was told if not, then the pellets cannot leave the Store.

I was told the same thing at can tire but the 177 pellet gun did't need any id, bought the same time

I thought it was a well known fact that buying from CT was a real pain due to the past incidents of mishandling of firearms. I know air guns sold at ct are not "firearms" but the perceptions of the general public is they are the same. There was a time buying airguns from CT or Pascals was a standard affair but then some turkey has to walk into my local CT with his own ammo and asked to see a shotgun. Never the same after that.

The Canadian Tire in Trail, B.C. stocks at least 1/2 a dozen different Weatherby, Remington and Winchester rifles, as well as the normal run of cheap guns.

Not here in Ottawa. Not for a long time now. Special order only. Good thing there is a Calebas 5 mins from my house. Nice seeing restricted firearms behind the counter again.

They get a lot of guns from North Sylva so they should be able to order any of their non-restricted stuff.
