Greetings.

I am a newbie from Peterborough and luv this Forum...lots of great info and helpful moderators and contributors.

I have a new baby arriving this week to replace my aging Webley 'Senior'. I just bought an Alecto and it is due to arrive later this week.

I usually shoot RWS Match10 or Meisterkegulen (sp?).

I am unsure whether I should stick with my usual 8.2g pellets or switch to the 7.0g pellets.

Most of my shooting will be indoors on a ten meter club range or in my basement at about 8 meters.

I also recently leaned that there are variations in pellet diameter also available (ex. .49, .50 & .51).

Any feedback on diameter preferences would also be really appreciated!

I'm getting itchy feet and fingers...!

Thx to one and all.

Hi Kawarthapine
Welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie as well so I can relate. This is definitely the place for any and all things airgun related.
As for your Alecto ... I have one and love it ... so much so that I bought the .22 version as well. (just not here yet)
The pellets that mine seem to like best are the Crosman Premier Hollow Points. This is probably because of the fit in my barrel. I have tried quite a few different ones, some quite loose and some very snug. The hollow points seem to fit somewhat snug but not too tight. I didn't have a caliper to measure them so no idea which of the sizes they are. At 10m they are very accurate.

Welcome to CAF. For shooting 10 meters or less with an Alecto in .177 I always used wadcutter pellets. (I sold the air pistol, but not because it wasn't "good"). If you use "lighter" pellets you will probably find that one pump will be sufficient at 10m. Try RWS Hobby pellets or RWS Meisterkugeln 7.0 grain pellets. JSB and H&N also make a variety of wadcutters which are available in various head sizes, some of which may perform better in your Alecto (e.g. 4.49mm). Shoot a variety and you'll find something your air pistol and wallet like. If you like round nose or domed pellets, try the JSB RS .177 pellets -- they are 7.33 grains.

Hi KP,
As I mentioned in my PM earlier I am out near Campbellford a lot. What range do you belong to in Pboro that is airgun friendly? Just curious as of course my long range plans (no pun intended) are to be out there more and even perhaps get myself into powder burners. do they have an outdoor range as well?
If, as I assume you do, you want to keep range details of the public eye line then please email me at
maker@plinkercases.ca.

cant help with the Alecto pellet diet question as I don't have one...yet!

Welcome to the forum Duncan. I'm sure you will enjoy the Alecto - yet another pistol on my wish list!

Thanks for all the great input and welcomes.

Love knowing I am not the only pellet addict out there!

I will post some reports once I've figured out what the Alecto likes to eat.

In .22 cal my Alecto loves JSB exact Jumbo RS

In .177 cal I use JSB exact 8.4 gr for general plinking and it's a toss up between 4.52 and 4.53mm diameter

All barrels are slightly different so it may take some purchasing to find that magic pellet

My .177 takes just about anything I throw into it, but I pretty much stick with brands noted for decent quality control -- wadcutter or domed.
