Just added an extension to the second Daisy 953 (wife's) this time using foam. A lot simpler, quicker with no need to cut wood or go searching for spacers. I figured that about an inch would be ideal for her so I experimented with the same foam from a knee pad from Princess Auto (the same I used to do the Ruger Explorer above) and it worked rather well. Only thing I had to search for were a pair of 2" long screws to replace the short stock ones that hold the butt plate in place.

Only tool used were an utility knife to cut the foam and a screw driver. Easy, clean, quick. I realize the gun nutz out there wouldn't accept such "atrocity" to their beloved guns but hey, I'm after practicality here, not the envy of the world.

Surprisingly firm as I used 1 and half layers of the knee pad. It's compressed pretty good, making the rifle stable while standing on a rack or pressed against your shoulder. And if I wanted to extend it another half inch I just need to unscrew the two guys accordingly. Does the trick just fine and I think a fine way to extend the butt. Done 3 guns using foam and so far so good.
