UBC are starting a new rifle competition in November. It's designed to be as open as possible so the categories are a bit odd, there's a 6 yard, open sights, offhand category, and then a 10m anything goes (as far as I can see) category :)

It's only 10 shots/month (seasons run 6 months), so should be an easy to find time for. I think I might give this a try.

Thanks for sharing.. seems like a good competition to get started with.
I might try it.

I got a clarification on what's allowed for rests at 10m, it's not quite anything goes as I said. Apparently we're allowed cushions, bipods and posts, but not a full benchrest setup. Fair enough as they already have a competition for benchrest rifle.

As usual with the UBC targets, they are setup for A4 paper, so if you're printing on letter you have to set the print option for 100% scaling, otherwise you can end up with a target that gets shrunk to fit on the paper. We don't need to make it any harder on ourselves :)

I printed out the targets and will be giving this a go.

So for a rest is a sandbag on the front layed out on my bench ok?

I believe so - I think that counts as a 'cushion' in their terms. So long as it's front rest only. If you add a rest for the butt then I think that counts as benchrest which they have a different competition for. I still haven't decided what rifle I'm going to use. I'd really like to enter the 6 yards/open sights category, but I don't want to pull the scope off my 953 as that's currently my most accurate set-up for 10m. Argh, I need more guns :) :)

Ha ha! Nice to have choices....

I only have two rifles and only one is accurate enough for this challenge. This may prove to be fun.

I'm sure it will be. The hardest thing normally turns out to be getting an entry in every month, but this competition should be easier than the pistol comp as you can submit any time during the month instead of during a 1 week window.
