Looking to buy a nice glass door gun case and am wondering if they are allowed (legal) for gun storage in Canada or are they meant for the U.S. market.They are easy to break into I imagine with glass doors and the law states our gun cabinets must be difficult to break into.

If I understood correctly / was taught properly on a PAL course a few weeks ago, as long as the gun cannot be fired e.g. trigger lock or cable locked through the action that's all you have to do. I asked a question about a safe and was told you don't actually need anything like that at all (and this is for NR firearms and shotguns), just as long as it is out of sight it, cannot be fired (or easily made ready to fire) and ammo is put away somewhere too with the same requirements.
(Edit: Just checked pages 238-241 of the handbook, the above is pretty much what it says - and it doesn't even have to be out of sight because you can display this was too i.e. as long as there is a trigger lock or similar device).

Right, so a cabinet with a glass door is obviously easy to break into. You can still use it to store firearms but you must also either lock the trigger (or remove the bolt if it's a bolt action).
And if you use it to store ammunition along with the locked guns, you would have to store the ammunition in a locked container (steel toolbox or something).
Otherwise store the ammunition in a non-easily accessible place away from the firearms. (Best to have it in a locked container in any case.)

Non restricted is okay, as long as their is a cable lock or the bolts (for example) are stored separately.
You can even hang 'em on the wall on a gun rack...as long as you follow the above.
Restricted is another matter...they have to be in a vault or closet/room that is locked and 'difficult to break into".

The law is specific, your firearms must be safely stored under lock and key. But airguns, I don't think the law applies to them unless they're PAL rated.
I have a buddy of mine with a big rifle collection and he keeps his in a glass cabinet, something like a china hutch.
They don't make rifle storage cabinets with glass doors for a reason.

Putting trigger locks on them would be wise.

Seems like people are split on whether these cabinets can be used.Law seems somewhat vague.I don't own any restricted weapons...not interested, and All my air rifles are PAL rated, always have trigger locks and are presently stored in a gun cabinet with my powder burners.I just want a legal lockable display cabinet because I think they look good.

I checked out that question on other sites and there's a definite split.Could be the topic wasn't mentioned or wasn't spelled out specifically on the RCMP website so many aren't sure, including myself.

Not easily broken into. That precludes a glass doored cabinet. Unless the firearms have trigger locks (or bolt removed).

People...read the enclosed link above that leads to the RCMP page.
A non restricted weapon:
Must have a trigger lock or cable lock or have the bolt removed
OR
Be stored in a case or cabinet that is hard to break into.
It doesn't say AND...it says OR. (again restricted is a different matter).
You can use a glass cased cabinet as long as you follow the above rules.

With a glass front, they are considered on display. Follow display rules for storage. Trigger/cable locks or remove bolts and store separately.
