The results are up for the first round of the new season of the UBC 10m pistol competition:

Our own Vitalymezh has thrown down the gauntlet and taken an early lead in both the spring and CO2 categories with some seriously good shooting. My own efforts were a little more modest, but I'm still in the hunt and I'll be doing my best to keep Vitaly under pressure :)

That will be great Rick. They have categories for springer, pumper, CO2 and pcp. Each round is only 10 shots per category, so in theory you could enter all four categories. I find two categories is enough to keep me busy though - the 10 shots don't take long, but getting back into practice and warming up takes me a while! I'm looking forward to eventually getting a pcp so I can fill in that last category :)

Thank you for starting this topic, Jim! May be it will attract more shooters to the post competitions :lol:

My small tip of "how to get neat round holes on target printed on ordinary office paper"
I use modeling clay from dollar store, just make a ball of 1" size, put target face down on flat surface and spread clay with my fingers to take approximately the size of 7 (black part of the target).

The only drawback of this method - you should hit the covered area, if you hit 5 or 6 your hole will not be so round and your mood not so good too, so practice!

That's a clever idea with the modelling clay - I shall have to visit the dollar store.

I missed Oct / Nov but will be trying to hit the black for this month in just 2 pistol categories.
Unfortunately I don't have 10m indoor so I have to stick with the 6m challenges.

Thanks for the tip on 24lb paper, this will be a huge improvement over plain copy paper.

I promised myself to try (for the first time) a real 60 shots pistol match this vacation. Until now I usually shot 10-20 shots per session.
And I did this morning!
Pistol FWB-80, pellets Meisterkugeln 0.177, 10m standing unsupported, 1 hand hold.
Shooting time: 34 min
Results (groups of 5 shots)
47, 45, 43, 43, 44, 41, 41, 44, 43, 39, 45, 44
Total Score: 519
I don't know if it good - average - or bad result, but it automatically became my best personal score! :D

I don't know when I can retry this because of pains in my right hand, but it was a fun challenge (except of last 5 shots, my hand was quite tired but I had luck to score three times "10" followed by "8" and last shot "6", I almost cried :cry: )

That's very respectable Vitaly. It's also very very quick, especially for shooting a manually charged gun where fatigue can build up. I think the normal shooting time is 1hr 45 minutes, although most people seem to shoot the 60 in less than the allotted time.

A while ago I seemed to be able to get in the 530s fairly reliably, but I haven't been able to do it recently. More like 490s now, so I obviously need more practice.
