My 1911, sitting rather unrealistically atop a pile of old equipment that I pulled out of a box from my basement.
Mods are Pachmayr grips and toned-down lettering.

Not done yet. When I do so I will probably not touch inside the holes.

This is what I came up with! Not crazy about black on black but if I can get these medalions inlaid I should be good. But a little nervous now trying to inlay these....don't want to drill right through and hoping I can get a clean drill on the top! It's just sitting on top for now.Have a.50 fostner bit to.

Great Idea. This type of hard plastic is pretty easy to drill into. I suggest starting with a small pilot hole to help the foster bit stay centred.

As for drilling, yes make a small pilot hole. Before drilling I filled the back of the grip with body filler to provide material in case I had to drill deeper then the tickness of the plastic, I have a post somewhere with picture of it. 8)

I seen the back of yours filled in somewhere,I was actually thinking about that! There just over 2mm thick the inlays are.I put a piece of tape 2mm from the bottom of the bit for a guide.Yeah I should drill a small hole first.
