Hi folks,

I am restoring an antique vault combination lock that is about 90-100 years old and I need a small part made. It is quite a simple part and far from critical but it would be nice to have. It is a small metal ring that is threaded and has a threaded hole off to the side for a screw that prevents this piece from unscrewing. Its purpose is to prevent a spline key from moving out.

The diameter needs to be 0.880"-0.885", thickness is 0.190". The middle hole is threaded 3/8"x30 and the smaller screw hole is for a #4-40 screw I believe. I can just pick up a small flat underside machine screw from the hardware store for that one so exact duplication and countersink is not necessary. The lock itself is made from bronze so I would like to match it but brass is fine.

If you are up to it send me a PM and we can get the details worked out.

Thank you

Here are some pictures of another one I have for another piece.

The knurled sides. The edges are chamfered.

Bottom. You can see that the smaller screw hole is slightly offset to the outside.

Is that thread 3/8" X 30TPI on the inside? There isn't a commercial tap made in that size. 16 NC and 24 NF are the common sizes. I'd have to make a very small single point tool to cut that thread. The rest is easy-peasy.

I am not sure on that. It is what the literature I have found on it says the spindle is threaded for. I can send it to you if you wanted to be sure.
