Looks like an indoor match.... no reason a .22 couldn't do as well, or even a .177.... Outside, with a wind to contend with, completely different ballgame.... :twisted:

I'm sorry. Last night I put some more scope-information on the score-list and then some results were also changed. So I just put the rigt list on.

These matches are not full benchrest. Only the front side of the rifle can be supported ;-)

When an acquaintance of mine lived in New Mexico, he had access to a warehouse where he set up a 100 yard range, indoors. He did all his 17 and 20 calibre load testing in that warehouse, turning in fantastic groups due to the lack of wind or any air movement. Groups become larger and less consistent when nature gets to play with you- out of doors.
Of course, we were ALL jealous of his load testing range, but not as much as the 'boys' from Wyoming and Montana who rarely had less than 20mph winds.

Agree.

Full benchrest outdoor shooting is anothor game. Because the rifle is in fixed position, "reading" the wind is one of the most important issues.

With only the front end of the rifle supported (bipod or sandbag) in our indoormatches, shooters do not have to read the wind. But they have to aim the rifle with their shouders and their triggerfinger.

The picture is a 5 shot 0,46 inch group produced during one of the matches.

The smallest 5 shot group produced during our 100m matches is below .39 inch. I'm not able to do that
