Airmec,
Wayyyy cooool...
I've not visited this forum for some time (work/life/flu/money - boring stuff) and was delighted to see you're actually making progress. Having no machining tools (or skills), I only got as far as wandering around Home Depot looking for a way to cobble together brass fittings & carriage bolt as inner piston. Lots of wandering, nothing doing...
Are you a machinist? I take it you're doing the work yourself?
Good luck & keep us posted!
Arden

PS-you've probably read it, but rsterne's post on testing FTP's may be of use testing yours
PPS-where do you guys find the brass/aluminum stock for these projects?

Thanks Arden :) . I'm not a machinist but have some machining skills, and yes I do it myself 8) . I went back to school to take a course to become a CNC Machines operator, and of course we had to learn the basics of machining. That's where I made those parts. I also just bought a mini lathe, with which I will finish the work (thanks Kinetic_genius :D ), as soon as it's repaired. I hope to finish in no more than two weeks. With a full time job and full time school, it's not easy to find time to work on my projects :hsmash .

Turns out all that stuff your mom told you was true: Eat your vegetables & finish school!
(but ignore the bits about playing with bb guns...)
Tell me, what kind of mini-lathe did you buy & how much?
Thanks,
Arden

So true

It's a Central Machinery 7x10 mini lathe, http://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-x-1 ... 93212.html , here's the ad from Kinetic_Genius: topic72110.html . The same lathe is sold under different brand names, Grizzly among others IIRC, but I don't know if it's sold in Canada. I think it's available with a bed up to 16''. Here's a comparison chart of some mini lathes I found: http://littlemachineshop.com/info/minilathe_compare.php .

Just be aware that this kind of ''hardware'' has much common points with airguns: it's an addictive hobby, you can easily spend too much money into them  , but they're very rewarding once you master them  .

Have fun!
