Here's a quick and easy tip for diminishing the intensity of a red dot, thus making it suitable for target practice. A couple of my other red dots allow me to control the dot size but the cheapo Crosman ones don't. Given how incredibly large and bright the red dots are on these, I suppose they're only usable by the air soft crowd. However I found an easy way to make it as faint as you wish, without darkening the field of view.

Being too lazy to install the tint I bought for my project car last year I just cut a tiny piece off the roll. Can think of several other materials that could be used but this was handy so that's what I grabbed. Folded it threefold and attached in front of the laser with scotch tape. Given the darkness of the tint I used, doubling it would have worked well but I wanted a really thin, faint dot since I'm only using this indoors. The cheapo Crosman red dot makes it easy to place a piece of scotch tape in front of the laser source. Granted, I could've done a better job with the tape but figured I may remove it anyhow and try different numbers of layers, so quick and dirty it is.

For comparison sake I took a pic showing the original red dot in front of the thin wire from my Xbox Kinect that's hanging on the wall. As seen in pic the red dot completely covers the wire and has a good amount of glare. Forget using this for target practice. After doing the mod I tried to take another pic but it was so faint, it wouldn't even register. But to draw a picture instead, the dot nicely fit within the thin wire. In other words if you can see the bullseye, you can place the dot inside of it. There, now my useless Crosman red dot is actually useful for target practice.

Btw I only use mine on pneumatics, don't trust it to hold zero on anything with a recoil.

I tried this mod using black friction tape. Used a needle to create the hole. Works fine in shade or at night. Needs more light when the sun is shining.

I like it on my Vigilante revolver for quick acquisition and low-light conditions.

i have a TRG reflex sight (different design than this) but i often notice in strong direct sunlight i cannot see the dot as well and very faint even in green
