I originally set out to buy only a couple of pistols. Along the way I seem to have acquired a few rifles as well. Only five, but they seem to have cluttered up the place, leaning around somewhere collecting dust and occasionally falling over. I needed a cabinet. Gun cabinets seemed too expensive, overkill for 500fps guns, and from what I could see didn't seem to allow for scopes on the guns.

Canadian Tire had a little white storage cabinet on sale a couple of weeks ago - regularly $119.99 (no way worth that much) but on sale for $39.99. Worth a try. Here's my as yet unfinished solution - I don't have the doors on yet, and I will probably put a pad of something on the bottom where the butts rest. I am posting this now because CTC has the cabinet back on sale this week, in case you're interested.

The cabinet comes with one fixed shelf (the middle one) and two moveable ones. I moved the fixed shelf up to clear my longest gun, and used one of the other shelves to make a barrel holder/locator with notches. It sticks out far enough to provide spacing for the scopes that I have on four of my five guns. I put some automotive foam tape for the barrels to rest against (needed extra glue). The doors don't fit tight by any means, but to make the cabinet relatively dust proof I will try putting some door seal edging around them.

Now my problem is I have 8 notches and only 5 guns....

very nice. I've thought of using the same idea only with the guns set farther back, and hinged shelves in front of them filled with griceries. great idea.

Nice job...
Mine's similar, except it's an old high-end office cabinet (yard sale score) about 3 1/2' wide, 18" deep and 5' high. Had a bonus locking door, too.
Like you, I made a rack for the barrels to rest in. (I glued a strip of green felt in each of the U's for protection, and fitted an 8" piece of 3/4" foam across the bottom for a proper butt rest). I used a piece of yoga mat from the same yard sale as the cabinet, but any soft foam of that thickness would work...

...I bought a used 'military' locker a few years back, but it's for the powderburners.....My son lost the key but I've had no reason to open it for the last 5 years anyway.....All my airguns are in a similar CTC wood cabinet (or on top of it) and in desk drawers as they're all pistols ..... I always keep one pistol (.44 cal.) close at hand in a state of 'being cleaned', just as a big surprise for any "evil doer" that threatens our little patch of paradise 'cause I can't trust the wussy pit bull ... One place to hang rifles is above the door on the inside of a closet if space allows....It's a spot no-one ever looks, so it's a pretty safe place ....( for pistols too, I suppose )
