And to make things more confusing, YouTube videos show the Nitro Venom Dusk .22, Pal rated, shooting faster than your gun, and mine, yet your gun( with the shorter barrel) shoots faster the others you mentioned, which also have longer barrels. You might want to try a longer barrel anyway.Who knows, you may get an extra 50 fps after all.Interesting.

The only confusing element in all of this is just why anyone would consider their airgun velocity in any absolute terms without actually having run their own chrony tests before and after a change of barrel. Without those numbers there is no argument, only guessing. A tempest without even a teapot it seems...

All that matters is what you want/like, and I'm sure the 16" looks better. As for a longer barrel making more power in 22 in that gun I doubt it. The volume of a 22 is ~50% greater so excluding other factors it would make sense that a 22 only needs to be 2/3rds as long as 177, but I'd need to know what is ideal in 177 and I can't answer that since my longest is 18.5. Since I seriously doubt a B18 177 needs a 24" barrel, then I'd assume a 22 doesn't need 16? Aside from that unknown there's those pesky other factors having to do with the guns design so really a hacksaw is the only way to find out :)
Justmyluck: He could get an extra 50fps, assuming altitude is low, like <1kft, but I think only mods to the rest of the gun will do that, not barrel length. My shortest 22 barrel is ~17" so I can't really say, but I'd bet $1 on it...
