I finally got my Maximus stock and fitted to my Discovery tube and Marauder trigger. With a little grinding it fit very well:), I think it needs to come down a bit more, still waiting for screws.

I then discovered the setup to be so stable I added a tether line to hold the gun hands free. I can totally walk away from this and the gun it not going anywhere. Made with steel cable, dog clips and a spring that prevent and harsh vibrations from jarring the gun.

Very smart idea. :)

I tried shimming the main spring on a sub 500fps Hatsan Mod55S (.177) to see if it could reach out to 55 yards.

First I added washers to the rear spring guide but I could not cock it at all. Then I found a post here that said add the spacer shim to the piston end. So I cut down three sizes of spacers out of CO2 bulbs tops. The tapered end fits well inside the spring and the cut end goes up against the inside of the piston.

The small one didn't make much difference so I went to the big one. The rifle still cocks well and gives a bit more kick. Tests at 35 yrd were inconclusive because it's got iron sights and the additional kick would take awhile to master so I put it back stock. But it's nice to know it could work. I think the spacer could go bigger because it still is pretty EZ to cock.

The same post also suggest adding weight to the piston end spacer/shim increase velocity so I could potentially pour some lead into the CO2 bulb spacer.

495 FPS will reach out to 55Y. Just need to figure the hold off. I used to shoot a shovel head with my IZH60. At like 50M.

Shooting field target means 45mm target kill zone at 55yrds..

Anyway looks like the pistion seal also limits the velocity

Well I cleaned my pistols then packed them away in my gun case. I put trigger locks on although it’s no required, but it’s just a precaution in case we get a visit from the police or bylaw enforcement. They already know I target practice in my back yard, but thought it best to make it look secure and safe. Their a bit picky here. Pickup the gun case on Kijiji for 20$.

I went out to the range last monday to forget about life in general (loved one recently passed). A tad windy, still, after trying a good 3 dozens type .22 I think i might have found what my HW80 likes. But since its fun, I just ordered all the FTT type to be sure.

5 shots @ 25 yards outdoor, hand rested on bag, HW80 + vortex 3-9x40, FTT 5.55

Nice shooting.

What airgun did you use, what pellets, what distance?

My PP700SA with 3-9. RWS 8.2 and 25ft.

Much better then before.

17 pellets in, I switched to the RWS. On this target. Since it was tearing too much. And at dot 40 I decided to rezero. Since noticed the POI being left.
