That's really nice work airmec. Would you post some chrony numbers on HPA before any valve mods?

Yeah sure :) . I wanted to chrony the rifle on CO2 with no mods, to get a solid reference for tuning and comparison. And of course on HPA with no mods, that will be the starting point for tuning it.

And thanks Daryl!

After looking up various guides online, and ordering some RE straight setback blades, decided to try my luck disassembling three rekord units, degreasing all parts, polishing the sears and relubing with moly powder suspended in engine oil... it was a long day... but worth it! Autosol on any rotary tool with a buffing head works great. With the straight trigger blades, the triggers now give a better feel (for me) and are as predictable as ever. All three have around a 13-14 oz trigger pull (still safe, checked sear engagement before reassembly and used the slap the butt-pad test, all good). Before there was discernible second stage creep before let off (particularly on the 77), now with the sears all polished up, the moment you break second stage, the sears just glide of each other making it seem as if there is no second stage creep! Now it's easy to barely hold the stock and just make a pinching motion with my thumb and index finger for a light, crisp, predictable and easily repeatable let off. Before, I had to more firmly grip the stock and use my index to pull the blade (which I think increased the chance to pull a shot). Might adjust the pull weight on the two sporter stocks to be even lighter though (something about the thumbhole stock that makes the pull seem lighter), just to make all three feel equal. All in all, very happy with the results.

I recently acquired a ''to be restored'' Crosman 187 CO2 air rifle, and I'm almost done restoring it. It's still missing the barrel band, which I'm not quite finished making, but everything else is there, so I was able to do a first chrony test this morning. Results are very satisfying, the rifle is shooting JSB Exact 8.44gr domed pellets in the 430fps range. Will do further testing in the following weeks with RWS and others pellets.

Some details about the rifle: It's a second generation version, made from 1962 to 1966, in Dunnville, Ontario, Canada. It has the cast trigger housing with lever-type safety (à-la QB78). It uses one 12gr CO2 cartridge, and pierces it on firing, again like a QB78. It's the .177 version of the Crosman 180 rifle. I saw somewhere it was the ''inspiration'' for the Industry Brand QB79 bottled rifle, like the Crosman 160 inspired the QB78D.

Also, this rifle came with a power adjuster in the U.S., but mine doesn't have one. The hole is there in the rear cocking knob, but there's no adjustment screw or even a threaded hole in the rear block. An early Canada-detuned example? I don't know, but the chrony results lean toward this 8) :)

Thanks :) . Beware, hobby machining is another rabbit hole as deep as airgun hobby, if not deeper

What doing- loading up right away and heading out to the range to so some indoor shooting.
Both PP700 in .22 and HW97 in .177. Shooting 50 to 60 feet, apparently.

Yes, like re-designing the internals for 1077 for example

Hi all - No pics for this, just a couple simple things. I just bought a Crosman Vantage Nitro in .177 and put in the 10mm trigger adj screw per Kenny's Y-tube vid from myairgunreviews. I've saved several of his vids for reference. Also, I have a non-PAL Ruger Blackhawk that had a 'recessed' breech seal, about 5 years old. I cut a bit of foil from a coffee can 'seal' to make a shim - about .010 so that brings the seal to +.007-8 I guess. One last thing, the lever 'channels' in the stocks of both were very sharp so I 'broke' the edges with a fine file. Makes a more comfy hold. The Vantage stock is stained what I term baby-s*** brown, not a natural wood colour I've ever seen. And is a sort of matte finish as well. That's another project coming soon ...
