3 - maybe 4 thin coats should about do it if you don't want to fill the grain. Do be careful not to plug up the checkering- the toothbrush works to thin and clean out the oil before it hardens. I wouldn't use my own toothbrush, though. :wink:

i'm not confident to fill the grain like you mentioned over email. i will most likely stop at 3-5.
