Sorry about the rant.Everything happens at once.My scope breaks,clothes washer dies,then yesterday my old snowblower blew up.What a weekend.Looks like my scope plans are on hold for a bit till the wife gets a washer.

Glad to hear you sanded the seal, and stepped it up by removing some off the piston. Any pix?
Meanwhile I'd consider buying a used bundled scope from someone who has upgraded theirs. Seems like there should be lots of them around? Also; what was the seals to bore size diff after all that work? Usually when I get the seal down near the dove I pretty much run out of seal OD, so I can't imagine taking that much off... So "if" there is leakage, or random leakage, it could break scopes. Random would show up as velocity drops, I suppose mostly the first shot after the gun sat horizontal overnight.
If you want to experiment you can try filling the dead space with some Goop. It'll work, and reduce scope stress. The "experiment" part is will it stay in place.

The seal that came in the gun had very little taper to it compared to the npss seal.I have .004" larger than bore dia.It does lose a bit after sitting over night,so I just cycle the piston through cocking cycle several times before using it.I didn't take that much off on purpose but needed to to get squared again after the welding/filing/sanding process,then the piston made contact(scope started losing zero right after)which required more sanding to clean up.I think I will go with a UTG 3-9x40,only get 1 yr warranty in Canada but I shoot enough that if it is a dud it should show up in first year.After all the mods I got the gun I thought I wanted/needed but in really it is way too much.I am putting the weaker gas spring back in.
