Here's a pic of the oil that I purchased from CT; it does say 'SAE 30' and 'Non-Detergent'. The CT web site will tell you which location have it on stock.

(Sorry, I think I added the image twice and couldn't delete the dupl.)
Thanks ~ actually the W30 oil is a well replacement for the Pellgunoil and it looks my Pellgunoil little tube can still last for a long time, I think I will do the switching at least after I finish it ~

premium paintball products should carry the lube i mentioned or something very close to it
or Sargent splatters or badlands

this pic is of the spool valve in a Dye DM marker....just to show you why they use this kind of lube
a good DM marker shoots around 23 balls per second so the lube has to withstand all that friction...
theirs barely any friction on the P-17 its just from opening and closing...the piston is the only real moving part with an oring

Image

this is animation of an FEP Quest very similar spool valve to the DM the little green dots represent o-rings..

Just curious... with the 30W-ND oil, you just apply it to the piston and being a liquid, it would work its way down to the o-ring.

With the Dow-33 being a lube/grease, would you also simply apply this to the piston and would it somehow get to the 0-ring (presumably, transferred via the compression tube)? Or do you have to remove the piston to apply the lube directly to the o-ring?

Also, how often would you apply this grease? Every tin? Every 6 tins (3000 pellets)? As needed (when the FPS goes down)?

30W-ND = 30Weight-Non-Detergent

the Dow-33 should be applied directly to the o-ring, i'd say every two tines
the thing with the oil is it might not make its way to the actual face surface of the o-ring
because if your o-ring has a nice tight seal as it should your o-ring will act like a squeegee
and just move the oil away, that's why you need something that's going to penetrate into the o-ring
and stay there longer...

YepYep,

That Motomaster Moly grease is only 3-5 percent moly content. It's used for lubing gears. What you want is 60-70 percent Moly content. It will cost a lot more than the Moto-grease. You can buy a small jar from airgun shops or get more than you will ever need from an industrial supply store. A small jar goes a long way.

The 3-in-1 lithium grease that was posted is not like a silicone grease that could be used on the P pistols. You can use the silicone grease from Dow Corning or from a dive shop or even a high quality from a plumbing store. Or just go simple and use 30W-ND oil or Pellgun Oil. Silicone grease is great. The 30W oil has been fine in my pistol for over 18 years. Both choices are fine.

Here is another interesting example than lines up with this posting. I think they made a typo on the velocities.

Here is a Canadian imported Chinese airgun. The Roebel S9 looks quite a bit like the P17. The little shield in the top right corner of the catalogue page says it has a 5 year warranty. I'm not sure why velocity is only 300fps. This pistol might just be the Chinese Xisico XSP120D.

I wonder how many of these pistols we have to order to get "CAF Favourite" on the side.... or maybe "The Canadian Plinker".

Dow33, oring monkey. Well known to the paintball community. We go through a lot of orings and dow. Ace has it all right.

I looked at their rifles. B-4. B-2. Has to be rebranded Xisico. What are the confirmed chrony numbers for a p17? Auto insurance? Funny.

My P17#1=412 fps, and P17#2=417 fps (average 2fps spreads), shooting RWS Hobby 7.0g wad cutters!

I checked my P17 back in August and was getting an average of 394fps with 8.44gr Exact. The P17 is rated for 410fps but no pellet weight is mentioned.
