The law is simple and easy to adhere to. Let's not overcomplicated it for newbies. Read this:
https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/storing-transporting-and-displaying-firearms.

Non-regulated airguns need NOTHING. The law says store them safely. You lose if someone shoots their eye out.

Non-restricted firearms (longrifles, +500 FPS air rifles)) need EITHER a lock that prevents discharge OR secured in a gun cabinet that "cannot be easily accessed.

Restricted firearms (sexy rifles and all handguns) require both a trigger lock and to be stored in a locked cabinet that cannot be accessed easily. There are no definitions provided for "locked cabinet that cannot be easily accessed."

The essence of the law is, "store firearms in a manner that they cannot be accessed quickly (including you as the firearm owner), nor ever by one who does not have a firearms license."

RioRand is also a great trigger lock. I prefer a combination lock to a cable lock. The combination lock is very handy, much easier than always trying to find the key. It is also nice that the combination can be customized. I also have the ability to add additional locks if needed and set the same combination. My only gripe is that the wheels that set the combination were very difficult to rotate until I lubed them with some Hornady dry lube.

I am thinking I need to use combination locks too.... Because I just found I misplaced all the spare keys which come with my order in the pack which I ' securely ' put in a safe place except only keeping one handy... So lucky I didn't hide them all in that 'safe' place I have no idea at the moment....

the master lock 94DSPT is of the best trigger locks which is come with combination system and you can easily set up by own. this lock is made by Alloy steel, Rubber and zinc which is not easy to cut and provide a trust worthy security to you. this lock is useful for shotgun, rifles and handguns. this is my favorite because I personally use it.

I have some of the combination rollers with a lever trigger locks. They are on all my handguns + a few spares. Got these when Wholesale Sports went out
of business in town. They work great - I leave them all on the zeros except for one tumbler. Easy on and off. I think I bought them on the 75% off day.

The only downfall to the combination locks is they are easy to open even if you dont know the code........I can open one in about 10 seconds. But for the sake of the law, its what I use as well.
