How often and long are you people shooting indoors?

I have a daisy 953 with a bug blaster scope on it. I haven't shot it more than 10 shots in the past year.

For some reason, I'm drawn to a pcp rifle... I have a little play money left in the piggy bank and could splurge on a non PAL AA S510 or the s410 in the for sale section.

I've done a lot (100-200 shots/week) with a slingshot in the basement at 10m, shooting 3/8" steel at soda cans. 55grain ball at about 200fps.

I can hit the soda can about 7/10 shots on average. Soda can lasts about 15-20 hits before breaking apart.

It's winter time ~ and I don't go to hunt deers... So I changed to shoot indoors and about 30 to 50 something every night with my HW40 and P17 after dinner...

Finally it looks I shot more indoor than outside year round now....

I seem to shoot something in my basement almost every day. Sometimes it's air rifles, sometimes air pistols, sometimes slingshots and sometimes a recurve bow to keep the form. Sometimes I shoot as few as 5 shots and other times over 100 a day. For the airguns I have a duct seal trap... for the recurve I use a tightly stuffed burlap bag... for the slingshots I have a few t-shirts hanging from the edge of an old table.

I have the same setup with my 953. I was going to take the BB off and put on a diopter but the trigger even after extensive modification is not up to my liking. My preferred choice is the tx200 when punching paper and a ruger airhawk when knocking down field targets. The tx is far to high in fps to be hitting steel indoors. The ruger is the standard sub 500 fps affair and accurate enough.

I shoot at least twice a day broken up into multiple sessions. At 5am I get up and shoot for about 20 mins before the kids get up. At around 9-10pm I shoot another hour or so. On the weekend I tend to shoot every moment I can slip downstairs.

I have some airguns.

90% basement. I'm lucky though, my longest "shooting lane" is just the right distance to match my first zero. So at least my airgun's always ready when I do get a chance to go shoot in the woods.

I'm drawn to the mechanicals of a nice pcp I think.

Slingshots in adulthood is new to me. I only started this summer when my son bought some ammo for his cdn tire slingshot.

I had to switch draw hands because I am right eye dominant.

I love the feedback of hitting a virgin empty pop can smack in the middle. I also have a swinging target made from a hockey puck.

I don't know if I can duplicate that safely indoors with a sub 500fps air rifle.

knocking down field targets is a very satisfying experience. Much more so than punching holes in pop cans with a airgun IMO.

I have some airguns.

I like to "try" to shoot like groups at 10M, either with the rifle or pistol... maybe 2-3 times a weeks, depending on schedule.

I'd like to duplicate that in a 10-13m range at home... Any ideas?

Thinking about a dime sized knock down or swinging target....

This is what I did.



I wouldn't recommend bench shooting at all. Maybe some brief fun hitting the smallest killzone a few times but no challenge whatsoever. Offhand or standing position. Perhaps sitting or kneeling for the smallest killzone.

The big trap is meant to contain ricochets from the field targets and not stop direct pellet hits. Previously pellets were going into every nook and cranny. Annoying to clean up.

I have some airguns.

Shot my compound bows and crossbows upstairs for years and still do but not as much anymore since I added pellet guns. Spent last two years recovering from a broken shoulder from playing hockey is how I got into pellet guns after a 40 year absence.

I shoot multiple times everyday. About 2000 pellets minimum a week. Bit expensive but it is what it is. My wife likes it because she always knows where I am. Nothing better than waking up and grab a coffee still in pajamas and go shooting. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and shoot for 1/2 hour and go back to bed. Two ranges in my house. Big one upstairs 30 feet and a 16 foot in my tool room complete with a stocked beer fridge.


Wife much happier now with kids moved out. Used to set up down stairs for winter shoots and shoot from fridge through living room by a hallway with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom to the front door. 60 pound compound bows. LOL Got a 30 yard range in my backyard as well for my bows.

Almost all of my shooting is in the basement and I shoot daily. Except the last two weeks I have been to busy with something else to shoot every day..

That's a lot!
And I want to know what gun(s) you shoot and the 2k pellets a week will be a very good method for the fatigque test and the one passed through your hands will be definitely a good buy!!

Tool room a Crossman 500 series and a Beeman P17 lined up for 16 feet. Bring others down stairs but leave scopes and reddots lined up for longer distance. Couple Airsoft Spring pistols Home from my trailer for the winter.

3- Ruger Airhawks- 946FPS, 797FPS, 517FPS, Hatsan 35S 505FPS, M4-177, Grizzly Cheapie $49. special shooting 518FPS. 11 pistols upstairs, 2- Vigilantes, 3- Crossman 357, Crosman 1008, P17, 2240, 1377 two BB pistols.

New bow coming in today. Getting back to 3D competition this summer after two years off with a broken shoulder. Cant wait. Picture is just half the room.

I have a good amount of woods where I'm at now and lots of places to hunt here in the Valley but we also have a nice lil cabin at the edge of the yard with a covered side porch where we have a table set up to shoot from and a 40 yard lane. So not so much shooting indoors these days. Long as it's half decent out, I'll be out shootin.
