Hi y’all,
Want to buy a .25 pcp. No brand preference.
I have a .22 pcp and just want a little more power for longer shots at targets.
Thanks

Are you sure a larger calibre is what you need? "Power" is used in many different references among airgunners (especially novice versus experienced users). As an example, some who shoot farther distances prefer a smaller calibre, to get higher velocity, in order to reduce trajectory degradation. Power is most accurately described and becomes a consistent and measurable entity when expressed in terms of foot pounds of energy (FPE): a reflection of the impact the projectile is capable of delivering (which is initially measured at the muzzle but is far more relevantly measured at the point of impact).

If you're shooting paper targets at 15 feet, 150 feet or 1,500 feet, FPE (or power) is irrelevant. As long as the projectile will reach the target and the projectile path is predictable, the amount of power with which it hits the target is irrelevant (well, as long as it doesn't just bounce off the paper so you can't see where you hit it :-). If you're shooting critters at 150 yards versus 15 yards, then you need more power to ensure that the remaining energy of the longer-travelled projectile is sufficient to kill the critter on impact. However, that's not necessarily an issue best resolved by increasing the calibre of the projectile. You may be better off purchasing a rifle that shoots a heavier .22 cal pellet well and shoots it faster than your present rifle shoots lighter ones.

Sorry if this explanation is too elementary; I concluded from your lack of interest in type, model or make of a prospective purchase that you are relatively unfamiliar with all the considerations involved in making a best choice in purchasing.

So, if you'd like to provide more details about your situation and needs, I'm sure many forum members can/will provide suggestions/recommendations. If you simply want a larger calibre rifle, then I recommend you contact any of the dealers mentioned regularly on this forum (several post regularly in the Dealer section); they will have several rifles options available in .25 cal.

Cheers.

Here's the 0.25 calibre I've been dreaming about, lol. Supposed to be very nice accurate guns. Also supposed to have a much higher velocity than listed from what I've heard.

You really don't need a 25 cal to shoot tin cans at 100 yards. These were shot with a Hatsan 22 cal and a Maximus 22 cal. Either one will punch a hole at 100 yards quite easily all you need to do is be able to hit it.

This frying pan is out at 120 yards. The holes were made with a 22lr and the dents with the same Hatsan and Maximus both 22 cal. Lots of hitting power and these are not tuned guns.

If you already have a PCP maybe a good scope might be money well spent.

If you want power - get a Condor - either .22 or .25. Then you have an adjustable platform you can adjust to get the best performance.

These guns shoulder run over 900fps, or wherever you want them to, with .25 pellets. The 51gr. rsterne FN BT's are very accurate in mine

but I've only had cursory testing so far (5-shots) but seem to want to shoot 1/2" inch or better at 50 meters. I expect them to shoot a lot better once

tuned for them. They are cast in a 4-cavity NOE mould.

Since they are bullets, they should not be as badly effected by super sonic speeds. I do not know if that is possible from the Condor, but just means

more testing this summer. Even a mere 900fps is 91.75fpe.

I agree you don't necessarily need the power of a .25 for 100 Yd FT, and without knowing what your budget is, it's difficult to make recommendations. However, if you have the funds available, I'd go with either an FX Streamline or a Daystate Huntsman Regal -both offer exceptional quality and accuracy and are available in both .25 and .22 calibres.

On a budget, you can't go wrong with the classic Benjamin Marauder, the Cometa Orion is another budget conscious choice -both of these will be heavier and require more effort to cock than the Daystate and FX, but as is always the case, you get what you pay for. In my mind, hands down the best bang for the buck, is the FX Streamline. For what it's worth, I own all of these, so have basis for direct comparison.

Cheers!
