Hi Len,

Perhaps you just need to run in the compressor without a load for 15 or 20 minutes to break in and loosen things up a bit. I'm sure if there is some kind of problem with the unit, Richard will look after you. Please keep us posted.

Cheers!

Aaron

I'm hoping it just needs a bit of a break in. It probably only ran for 2 minutes or so to take the gun from 500 to 3000 psi.

Tried it again and everything seems OK. Fair bit of water comes out the bleed valves though. How well do the cheap water/oil filters work?

Unscrewing and opening it up to air dry after your daily use will probably help quite a bit and give you an indication of how wet the filter is getting. I think most guys are buying the bigger filters and putting molecular sieve/dessicant beads inside. I've got some for sale for $68. 20 shipping included on my site.

For those that bought the pump thinking they were getting an adjustable pressure version, I just thought I should mention it's super easy to switch it over if you buy the gauge from paintballgear.ca that he kindly ordered in for us. It's a matter of unscrewing the old gauge, screwing the new one in, Then unhooking the coupler on the wires from the old gauge and coupling the new gauge wire. Only takes a couple minutes and works great.
Cheers,

Wes

I concur,

Had my manual set pressure stop installed in about 60 seconds and it works great! Now I can pump my tanks up to the full 4500 psi or put a safety stop on things when charging a rifle up directly. Recommend a little Teflon tape and box wrench for installation.

Something I also discovered is not to screw the filler hose to tightly into the compressor block - even overtightened by hand, the screw in fitting can compress the o-ring down enough to seal off the air flow completely.

I always make a point of venting as much water as possible from the compressor and cooling chamber prior to storage. Water / Oil separator opened up and bleed screws removed to facilitate internal drying and hopefully minimize long term corrosion.

So far so good on my Yong Heng.

Cheers!
