So I just received the new rifle , mounted a BSA 4x14x44 FFP scope . The initial unboxing , I was grinning from ear to ear as expected when receiving a new rifle . The stock is absolutely beautiful , the machining is great and the best part is the trigger is nowhere near as bad as the reviews I’ve read. In double action it is close to the advertised 12 lbs although I didn’t use a scale to measure . But in single the break is probably closer to 1.5 lbs ( evanix must have done some rework) . I filled the gun to 3000psi ( bottle says 250bar )filled a magazine with some 30 gr BBT’s and shot them over the chrony. 960,945,955,938,944,956 . The second mag I loaded with the redesigned monsters 25.4 gr 1032,1028,1020,1043,1036,1027. Is way that’s pretty good for out of the box ( no power tuning needed for this one ) initial chrony work done so off to the 50 yard range . The top sheet is with the 30 gr BBt and the power is with the JSB’s . It is extremely windy here today with 20 MPH crosswinds . Definitely showing promise. The second pic is of the new rifle .P

Couldn’t help myself but to take the rifle apart for a cleaning and tightening of screws . I verified the twist rate to be 1:15 and appears to be a 12 grove (I didn’t count) . The bore was filthy so I gave it a good cleaning ,the leade and crown were both way better than I expected so I left them alone . Pushed a few bullets through the bore and there were no tight spots until the choke . I added a section of picatinny rail to the foregrip for a bipod and leveled my scope as it had a slight cant to the right from my hasty install. I’ll be heading back out to the range in the morning for more shooting . I must say this rifle is built like a tank ,the barrel is threaded into the action the shroud screws onto the front of the action then a centering bushing for the barrel to ride in . It makes my two BT65 ‘s look like children’s toys in comparison . I should have bought this rifle a long time ago.

Today while looking the rifle over I decided I needed to something to lower the power so I could shoot some modest weight pellets . The groups I was getting were not bad with the 25.4 grain JSB monsters but at an average of 1030 fps I figured lowering the speed a tad would help. There is absolutely no way to adjust the hammer spring tension or to restrict the transfer port withought some serious mods so I went a different route . Like the Bstaley mod I’m using a buffer at the valve stem to shorten the valve opening and eliminating some of the hammer bounce . I removed the set screw at the back of the breech and fabricated a small stud to hang my buffer flap . I just happened to have some rubber on hand so I proceeded to cut a strip of appropriate length and forming it to fit in the slot the hammer rides in . Next was to get the right thickness for the speed I wanted . I used the 30 grain BBT for testing and wanted to shoot them at 800 fps . After about three tries ,removing material with a sanding disc on my Dremel I got the speed to where I wanted it at 2400 psi. I haven’t done a shot count yet but I can tell you the report is much lower the tell tale hammer bounce sound is gone . I’ll probably clean up the “neuter flap” as you can see in the pic it’s still a little rough looking . Best part is can shoot full power or lower power with no tools and the mod is completely reversible with no change to the rifle . I’m really starting to like this rifle . Like I said before ,should have bough this one a long time ago.
