I have a first variant medalist with the steel breech and sliding breech cover.
The stepped retainer screw is 6 x 32. It broke on me Monday night. My 2nd variant has a 10 x 32 retainer screw. I think the larger screw would be safer.

Any opinions before I drill and tap it out ?

Turns out that I was wrong on screw sizes.
8 x 32, and the job is done now.
The little 6 x 32 retainer screw blew out at 6 pumps- roughly 1200 psi if I remember correctly.
There's a lot more beef there now with the heavier stepped screw in the bolt....
