Well guys I have a new Discovery to share, literally!
Actually I did make a Discovery today, and that's that scope glass really can be as bright and clear as people say! The other scopes I've got for sale have very nice clear glass and they were the clearest I've personally owned, but today I got some new scopes in the mail that really have amazed me at how clear a scope can be. They are the Discovery Brand, and have a great reputation for toughly built well made scopes with clear glass. Makes me jealous and want to switch the scope I have on my QB with this one, =)
Here's a few pictures:
I sure wish I could get some nice pics of the Reticle! Any tips are welcome since all my efforts have so far failed.
(I'm thinking I should buy one of those cell phone scope mounts)
Cyclops videos has a great review on a discovery scope on YouTube, and I've been chatting with him about them and he is super impressed with them as well.
Here's his video review, on a different model:

You can see our conversation in the comments.
I'm really impressed! I realize these are more pricey, but well worth the money imo for those wanting to shoot long range and a ything down to 10 yards. That's the minimum parallax adjustment and I found 16x about as much as you'd want to magnify it at that range. 15-20 yards and its nice and clear to 24x.
The Reticle is super! I love the lines of Mil and half Mil.
It has a nice long eye relief as well.
Here's some of the specs:
"Magnification:6x-24x
obj. lens dia.: 50mm
First Focal Plane
Illumination:red*5&green*5
Side Focus(10yds- ∞)
Tube Dia.:1.1in(30mm)
Reticle:RF reticle
1CLIK=1/8MOA(lock=down)
Length:364mm(14.33in)
Weight:760g/26.81oz
EAR:60MOA WAR:60MOA"

Price for forum members (as low as I can go shipped) $259-$269 depending on your locationImageImageImageImage

Here is a picture of what the Reticle looks like and the explanation how to range find with it. Pretty cool! Image

Interesting reticle.
Kind of hard to form an opinion just based on review reading....

Parallax range seems about the same as my tried and true 6-24 X 42mm A/O Banners.
I'm good up to about 16X for 10 yds, and then 15 yds becomes the minimum above that.

Side focus is a plus. I'm really on the fence with illuminated reticles though. I think I'll let this one pass~
I still have the Vortex for critical work, even though the d/z reticle is a hair on the thick side.
Still kinda hard to beat a full mil-dot reticle- and this is where the Banner really shines. One of the problems that is amplified by air rifle use is calculating "hold under". This can be a bit of a bear to get used to, especially in mid/high power .22 a/g.... an inch over 5 yards may not seem like much, but it's a challenge to figure out accurately.

Perhaps I come across as a little unfairly harsh against this scope.
The old saying goes "contempt prior to investigation" etc. etc.

I am able in most situations to w.a.g. the hold under with a cheap Tasco RD-30 red dot sight, so the issue is not as serious as I make out. Said red dot has absolutely no reference points other than the 5 m.o.a. dot, so go figure...

Could be an excellent scope for the money- just that the timing is all wrong for me, as of today. Growing scope pile, and no where near enough guns for them all  In fact, there may be another deal in the works for yet another blued steel series 60-B Weaver scope.

Lol, you've got quite the collection of those, that's awesome!

I'm seriously thinking I need a scope like this Discovery myself, for some long range shooting with my two QB guns. I just need to find a spot I can go to regularly and set up a bench or something. I sure miss the farm!

Thanks for your Comments D. S., and for the purchase of the two scopes you bought along with the honest reviews. Much appreciated!

I've sold only one of these so far, to a non forum member (as far as I know). These are $259 on the website and with the 7% coupon you are getting this scope $55-$100 less than retail and this includes free Canadian expedited shipping. Rings and scope shade included =).
Did i say super clear glass? :D
