I have an old polish made .177. Really nice rifle. The piston seal still looks and functions well, but of course, the breech seal is flush with the surface. Totally useless.
How do I replace it? And, with what?

Thanks,
Shawn

I don't know where u live but you can get it at best buy in the store (in their remote control cars area.)..or any hobby shop that sells remote control cars, etc....its called silicone shock oil…..ask for number 22 but any viscosity is good really......22 just soaks into leather seals quicker than heavier oils...

P.S....if best buy doesn't carry it anymore...go to a hobby shop..Its always about $5 or $6 for a small bottle( lifetime supply)...Walmart wants $24.00 ...ridiculous..…

No idea..I just know RC silicone works great on leather seals...any hobby shop will have it..…which is better than waiting for it online...I'm not sure of the o ring size but that's still an option.....

Used it on a leather seal Hungarian Telly and it worked fine. Removed the piston and put it in a plastic glass nose down for a week in 1/4" of Neats.Swelled right up like new.

What about this?
It's a lot lighter weight than the 22 you mentioned, but if it needs to be light in order to soak in, doesn't look like you can get lighter than 1.5..

Gee...I don't know what to say...1.5??...just about like water..lol....it COULD work.....all I can tell you is from experience....I used 22 and 30 weight......I think I'd be more inclined to go with what Pioneer2 discovered from using it....before I went with a 1.5 weight......

could it be refreshed by standing it on its butt and dropping oil down the barrel? would the oil find the piston?

Ok. I'll keep looking for the 22 weight. I didn't get to best buy today. Had to go right from work to more work. Maybe tomorrow.
