Attached is a photo I took on the first a few shots while my HW45 just came home...

And right now the smoke has gone for a long time, but from time to time, I can still have some smell from the gun after just shot. And it's about one tin or two of pellets went through the gun already...

It's a very addictive smell ~

Louder than normal sound, odd oily smell, smoke. Name comes from the diesel engine. Where you take a liquid and compress it. So it vaporize. If you hear a loud pop, then it combusted. If you see white smoke, then it didn't combust. But its what dieseling is from.

Might not even be the scope. I got frustrated with mine. Slightly grip/pressure change threw off the shot. I gave up.

Uhhhm. I don't think it's too bad. I don't see smoke usually, if there is its white. I can smell a hint of oil half way down range usually (basement) after 50 some pellets. Gun isn't too loud for the fairly power nitro gas piston. Muzzle noise is tolerable. No distinguishable crack/pop. I had been careful with the amount of oil used to prevent damage but to make sure oil amount is adequate for function.

I'm using spindle oil, basically airtool oil (also can be hydraulic oil 46 to 64, however 64 can be a bit on the heavy side for speed and compression). Spindle oil (Air tool) oil is designed for a mix of metals and plastics. It's viscosity is thin enough to not bog down but sticky enough to ensure proper lubricity. It doesn't gum up over time. Spindle oil is also designed for high speed, heat, and compression. And I have a lifetime supply of it because of the mill and lathe. So I figure it's a shoe in for the piston and seal.

I'm hoping to get some time this afternoon if the boss doesn't call me in. I'll empty another tin of pellets.. they're getting expensive. I might go back to jsb 18.1's. Cheaper, and they did do well once upon a time. The baracudas are nice, but pretty pricy for how quickly I'm going through them...
