This would make sense if the sensors were flush with the top of the unit, which mine aren't, and no diffusers in place. They are recessed to read against the diffusers, and not the light source. The manual for my chronograph recommends against shooting for readings without the diffusers in place.

Also I would like to note that a single light source located between the two sensors will always give a higher than real reading. There is much info on how to light a Chony on the internet. I read one post in particular that discussed at length why a single light source was a problem but I cannot find it at the moment.

Here's a simple diagram of why a single light source is not a good idea:

This diagram is incorrect as most light sensors are slot loaded and not on top , so the single light theory is of little effect to properly engineered chronographs . See the corrected drawing

Very interesting Pelsby and DS, I guess the fact mine shoots faster indoors may have a different reason then. Lleader I do remember now you posting your velocity, my apologies. That link you gave wasn't the right one though, so I'll have to look for it to see what the velocity was.
