Now that I have the B.B. pistol decision made, I was wondering if anyone has or knows anything about the Sig Sauer P226 ASP 16 shot CO2 pistol that Cabela’s has on sale right now. This one is supposed to be made by Sig. The online reviews looked OK. I believe it also will shoot BBs but has a rifled barrel. Is it true that BB’s will ruin the rifling of the barrel?

If it didn't mention you can use BB and pellets at the same gun, never use the BBs on the rifled barrel pellet guns, the air gun barrel metal usually not very hard, so the steel BBs will do damage to it...

Even the manual say you can use BB too, ppl usually don't... I don't have those kind of gun, but I think ppl not doing that for a reason....

You can do both but it is recommended you pick one and stay with it.
Choosing BB's is fine but it will grind down the barrel to the point where there is no advantage to using pellets anymore. You'll get BB accuracy anyway so you can't go back to pellets once you shoot so many BB's thru it.

This is a BB gun. So it has the full size drop off mag not the 2x8 rotate pellet mag...

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/100288/s ... 7cal-black. I believe this one is a pellet gun not a BB gun. There are several replica models of the P226. I believe this model is made by Sig. not a licensed copy. But of course I could be wrong! LOL

If it is a pellet pistol that can also shoot BBs, I'd advise you to stick with the pellets as they'll be more accurate coming out of the rifled barrel versus the BB. You definitely do not want to mess up or erode the rifling with the use of steel BBs which are a lot harder than lead pellets. I read somewhere that the rifled barrels in an airgun consists of softer steel in comparison to rifled barrels from powderburners. Over time, the rifling will wear down if you use the pistol as a BB shooter. I personally use BBs ONLY in my smooth bore shooters and pellets in the "rifled barrel" shooters.

You mean insert the BBs to the plastic rotate mag and shoot? I have a P250 uses the same mag but I don't remember the manual say we can use BBs with it....

I remember there are only some old Crosman or Daisy models can use both BBs and pellets....

Doubt if Sig has anything to do with this gun, other than trademark licensing. It is made in Japan.
The spool type magazine is a departure from what is normally seen on a pellet pistol. It would probably jam like crazy with b.b.s. They'd be an awfully loose fit in the pellet loops...
